A collection of books for womban with a yearning for more

"The womb is the holder and repository of the creative force of instinctual sexuality, the flow of vital dynamic life force, or Shakti, with love. When a woman brings together this instinctual nature with an awareness of the Divine within herself, her full creative potential becomes expressed. "

- book quote from Womb Wisdom

I often purchase all of my books from op shops (truly, 97% of the time), unless they are gifted. I find some of the most fascinating titles and like to think that I find them in op shops, without an intention to find them, for a reason. Because there is something in them, that I need or want.

These books, though 2 are gifts, 1 is passed down and 1 is from the op shop, have all played a pivotal part in my understanding of what it truly means to move through life as a woman.

A woman with an unwavering belief in herself.

A woman who is connected to her womb space, her yoni, and the power that emanates from this portal.

A woman who knows how to prioritize herself, her sensuality, her desires in life.

A woman who is not afraid to step into her wild form, as the ebb and flow of her cyclical nature demand it.

I often wonder, who was I before this? That is how much these books have impacted me. Stripped back the layers of conditioning, shame, disconnect, and neglect. I hope they offer you the same, if not, something that you are needing in your life right now.

1. Womb Wisdom, Padma and Anaita Aon Prakasha

I am yet to finish this book. I have had it for a few years, and seem to return to it every couple of months. It's funny, it almost seems like I need to go through certain experiences, personal growth, or opportunities to be able to fully comprehend what comes next in the book.

The forgotten wisdom of our wombs is one of the most severe, ongoing epidemics we are living in. Also known as the patriarchy.

Some of my favourite parts of this book (so far), is understanding how intimate encounters impact our wombs and energetic cords to those people, the exercises and self-reflection questions throughout, the incorporation of menstruation and birth, and of course the deep unraveling of pure power that we hold in our womb, but have been taught to shut off.

A must for all who have a womb, or want to understand those with wombs.

2. Pussy, A Reclamation, Regena Thomashauer

This. Book. Changed. Everything!

An absolute game changer. I posted this to a close girlfriend after I read it, who posted it to another girlfriend and so on. Each and everyone of us has felt the immense value in the sentences Regena has created. This book truly does allow for a reclamation, I promise you that.

It was as if, reading these pages gave me the permission to own my womanhood, to delve deep into what I desire. To truly understand the magnetising power of a woman who is tuned in to her womb and yoni.

I strongly recommend all those who identify as woman to read this book. If you want to understand women more, I also encourage you to read this book.

3. Anatomy of the Spirit, Caroline Myss

This book has great insight into energetic healing and medicine. The author shows us the power of knowing ones intuition, and how potent the mind-body, science-spiritual connection is.

A really great thing about this book is the understanding of our emotional body, how it relates to our physical body and how problems or stress in these areas come about, what emotions these may be connected to and how we may alleviate them.

We become our own healers.

We know ourseves to the deepest depths.

Created in 1996, this book offers invaluable knowledge and perspective we need in the 21st century.

4. Women who run with the Wolves, Clarissa Pinkola Estes

This book is much heavier on the word count, but such an important text.

In a world that praises the submissive, docile woman, Clarissa helps women remember the power and fulfilment in tending to their inner wild woman.

With connection to the wolf, women gain an acceptance of their wild self, and how to support and love her in a world that seeks to quiet her.

Similar to the cultural creation of 'pms', and 'mood swings', we have been taught that to have emotional states, intuitive knowledge and a wild side, we are nothing more than a nuisance to society (unless, of course that wild side fulfills the male fantasy of a womans sexuality).

It is time to reclaim that part of you, the part that every woman has within her, and a part that MUST not be ignored, neglected or shuned.

5. Everywoman, Derek Llewellyn-Jones

This book was first published in 1971, and it holds great value even today. Gynecologist and Obstetrician, Dr. Derek, does an incredible job at speaking to the life experience of a woman. From anatomy, physiology, menstruation, sexuality, marriage, birth, breast care and much more, it is an astounding piece of writing.

One of my favourite parts of the book, is the first few sentences of the first chapter. It really points out how women, specifically breasts, have been sexualised in Western culture. Beyond that, he points out a really potent concern in my life right now. We are not born with the gender roles attached to our biological sex, however it is our society and culture that shape those roles and enforce them onto us.

In any capacity, I think this is important to be aware of. Especially, if you're planning on having a family, this is a really valuable process to be aware of and hopefully support your children in avoiding.

This book is an all-rounder, and a must ready!

With a special interest in natural fertility, conscious conception and conscious relating through starting a family, I offer Birth Doula and related services to encourage more depth and awareness in your journey. I educate on the menstrual cycle and encourage women to reawaken their confidence and trust in their bodies, and show an understanding of how all of these experiences are interrelated and must be considered on your journey to starting a family.
